With F3 testing wrapped up and the final race of the F2 season on the horizon, there’s been movement in the driver market.

F3 completed its post-season tests this week, sparking a flurry of driver announcements from teams. As the F2 season starts to wrap up, further news of driver moves is to be expected.
Franco Colapinto
The young Argentine will make the leap from F3 to F2 next year, where he’ll continue to drive for MP Motorsport. The move brings a successful year to a perfect conclusion, after Colapinto finished the year fourth in the standings. Racing alongside Mari Boya and Jonny Edgar in F3, Colapinto scored over half the team’s total points. The 20-year-old finished the 2023 season with two wins and five podiums to his name.
Colapinto will make his F2 debut with MP Motorsport at the final race of the season, held at Yas Marina in late November.
Andrea Kimi Antonelli
Arguably one of the greatest talking points: Andrea Kimi Antonelli will make the jump straight into a Formula 2 seat. The 17-year-old has enjoyed a glowing junior career thus far, having recently won the Formula Regional European Championship with PREMA. Antonelli will continue his single-seater journey with the team, bypassing F3 to join the F2 grid from 2024.
The Italian will have his first go in an F2 car at the post-season test at Yas Marina, following the conclusion of the 2023 season.
Gabriele Miní
Speaking of PREMA — Gabriele Miní is set to return to the team he made his racing debut with. Miní clinched the Italian F4 title with the team back in 2020, in only his rookie season. After completing post-season testing with the Italian team, Miní will form 1/3 of the team’s 2024 lineup. Miní enjoyed a successful run during the post-season test, setting the fastest time on both testing days.
Although only his first year in F3, 2023 saw Miní finish the season with both a race and a sprint win to his name. The 18-year-old finished seventh in the standings, ahead of teammates Luke Browning and Sebastian Montoya. Of the move to PREMA, Miní stated that he is “very happy” to re-join the team.
“The team had a very strong season last year, and we had some very promising tests together,” said Miní. “Our only goal will be to fight for the title, and I cannot wait to hit the track and start the new season.”
Dino Beganovic
Miní will partner Beganovic at PREMA next year, as the team confirmed the 19-year-old would remain with them into next season. A proven partnership, Beganovic and Miní drove alongside one another at PREMA during their time in the Italian F4 Championship.
Beganovic enjoyed a successful year as a rookie F3 driver, ending the year sixth in the standings — four points ahead of his teammate-to-be. The Swede equally enjoyed a strong post-season test with PREMA, setting the third fastest lap on day two.
Looking ahead to another year with PREMA, Beganovic commented: “Our targets are clear and have been set high, but they are achievable. We will continue to focus on the testing sessions to prepare as much as possible for the first race next year.”
Ayumu Iwasa
There’s an empty seat at DAMS, as Ayumu Iwasa is set to join the Super Formula grid next year. As it stands, Iwasa sits third in the F2 championship standings, with 152 points to his name.
With two sprints and a feature race win under his belt, Iwasa departs F2 on a positive note. While there remains to be an official announcement, the move has been confirmed by Helmut Marko. There’s no news yet from the French F2 team as to who will be Iwasa’s replacement — though announcements will come as the season wraps up.
