Abbi Pulling lines up in pole position for Race 1 in Singapore.

Yesterday’s Qualifying session was the all-female racing series’ first at night. Once again, Alpine Academy’s Abbi Pulling set the fastest first and second lap times during Qualifying under the lights.
Therefore, the 21-year-old Rodin Motorsport driver takes another double pole position in Singapore – a repeat of her Qualifying success in Spain.
The Wildcard entry for F1 Academy’s Singapore weekend is British racer, Ella Lloyd. She currently drives for JHR Developments in Formula 4.

The wildcard livery is sponsored by F1 Academy Discover Your Drive: “A global initiative which will encompass all activities at grass root level to increase participation and in turn the talent pool of young girls and women entering the sport both on and off track”.
After Singapore’s race weekend, there will be a two-month gap of no racing for the female drivers. The final two F1 Academy race weekends – in Qatar and Abu Dhabi – occur in late November and early December.
The starting grid for today’s race in Singapore was as follows:

Lights out
Bianca Bustamante caused an aborted start and the drivers had an additional formation map. Consequently, this reduced the race to 11 laps.
McLaren sponsored driver, Bustamante should have started the race from the pit lane rather than P9. However, she lined back up on the grid and was therefore noted for a race start infringement by Race Control. Ultimately, Bustamante was handed a 10-second stop-and-go penalty.

The next time around, the lights went out. This was the first time the F1 Academy drivers raced around the Marina Bay Circuit. Unlike Qualifying yesterday, this race took place during the daytime in Singapore.
Pole sitter, Abbi Pulling got a great start off the line. Meanwhile, Aurelia Nobels went wide and off the track into Turn 1. Chloe Chambers was under pressure into Turn 5.
Towards the end of the first lap, Pulling was in P1, Maya Weug in P2, Doriane Pin in P3, Lia Block in P4, Chloe Chambers gained a position to P5, and Ella Lloyd gained two places in P6 for her debut race. Next, was Hamda Al Qubaisi in P7, Nerea Marti in P8, Bustamante in P9, and Carrie Schreiner in P10.

Bustamante came into the pits to serve her penalty, putting her in P16 as she rejoined the race.
Nobels in the Puma liveried car was noted for a Turn 1 incident of leaving the track and gaining an advantage. She failed to go around the bollard on the outside of Turn 2 when re-entering the track. However, no further action was taken against Nobels in P14.
Into lap three, Pulling set the fastest lap of the race.

H. Al Qubaisi was hot on the tail of wildcard entry, Lloyd for P6. However, H. Al Qubaisi also had to defend against Marti behind.

Yellow Flag
A Yellow Flag was shown in Sector 1 for Emely de Heus. She tried to make a move down the inside of Nobels into Turn 1. She lost the car in a spin and rejoined the race in P15, with only Bustamante behind.
With five laps to go, Pulling set another fastest lap of the race with a time of 2:04. Lloyd and Pin were noted by Race Control for a potential false start. If Mercedes-sponsored Pin received a penalty, this would be significant for Pulling in their championship battle.
Additionally, De Heus was noted by Race Control for failing to follow instructions using the correct escape road to rejoin the circuit after her spin. She will be investigated after the race.
Pin received a five-second penalty from Race Control for a false start. Block in P4 was within 3.9 seconds of Pin, handing her the podium if she could stay within five seconds. However, Block was losing time to Pin, determined to retain P3.

Into the final lap, Pulling had opened up a 2.2-second gap to Weug behind in P2. Another flawless performance from Pulling: leading from lights to flag, dominating the Practice and Qualifying sessions, securing a double pole position, and setting repeated fastest laps throughout Race 1.
