Red Bull Racing’s 2021 car broke cover today, the RB16B showing the usual red, yellow and blue colours with the addition of some new sponsors that Sergio Perez brings with him, as well as the Honda branding taking a more prominent position on the rear wing. In previous years Red Bull have ended the season with the strongest car but have failed to produce an overall package good enough to challenge Mercedes for the constructors and drivers titles, they will be hoping their fortunes change heading into 2021.
Red Bull begin the season with their strongest lineup for a while, with Max Verstappen being partnered by race winner Sergio Perez, who replaces Alex Albon in the second Red Bull seat. Red Bull will be hoping the Mexican can break the curse of the second seat, and stay close enough to Max to allow Red Bull to mount a serious title charge.
2021 marks the last season for Red Bull with a Honda engine, before taking over operations for themselves in 2022. As a result of Honda pulling out, the Japanese manufacturer have brought forward their 2022 upgraded engine to 2021 for both Red Bull and Alpha Tauri cars, so could this be the year Red Bull and Max Verstappen become champions? Or could Sergio Perez surprise us all and storm ahead of the Dutchman? Questions like these and many others make the 2021 season one of the most exciting yet, before racings’s even begun!
