With drivers up and down the grid jockeying for position ahead of the 2026 regulation changes, there are plenty of twists and turns to come in the drivers’ market for 2025. One of the intriguing prospects is Haas. The American team was rather pessimistic about their hopes this season, yet they currently sit P7 in the constructors’ championship.

However, Nico Hulkenberg has scored six of the team’s seven points so far this year. With the German driver moving to the Sauber team in 2025, Haas can no longer rely on his stellar performances. Additionally, where will this leave Kevin Magnussen?

When questioned by the media if we may see him off the grid in 2025, Magnussen responded:

“Yeah, there’s a chance of that happening. The team knows me very well – I’m a known quantity, so I don’t think there’s anything for me to prove. It’s a very open driver market this time around. We’ll see how it pans out.”

He continued, “I’ve made it clear that I would love to continue here. I think the team is in a good position, where there’s pretty good hope for the future – I’d love to be part of it. I don’t know how long it’s [going to] take until we know how it’s [going to] go, but until then, just keep driving.”

Haas also appears not to be in a hurry to confirm their driver line-up for next year. Regarding a potential deadline, Magnussen reported:

“I don’t really have a deadline, no. I think it’s still a very open driver market. It’s going to be interesting to see how it pans out for everyone, but I haven’t set myself any dates of anything like that, anything to stick to.”

Of course, with 15 races remaining, it is still all to play for. But will Magnussen get an eighth season with Haas?

Which two drivers will Haas field in 2025?

While his future is uncertain, Magnussen could still impress Haas enough this season to retain his seat. However, there is plenty of competition out there. The most notable candidate is current Formula Two driver, Oliver Bearman. The Ferrari Academy driver will compete in Free Practice One in Spain for Haas this weekend. He has been hotly tipped for the promotion, especially following his super-sub appearance in Saudi Arabia.

In recent years, Haas has been known to prefer experience over youth. Both current Alpine driver Esteban Ocon and Sauber driver Zhou Guanyu have been rumoured to be of interest to the American team. However, there is speculation that Haas will likely reject the Chinese driver’s offer.
