The combination of Max Verstappen’s alien-like consistency and Red Bull’s dominant RB18 have ensured that most racing action has taken place further back in the back – but that wasn’t the case at the British Grand Prix.

After suffering mechanical failures early on, Verstappen’s Red Bull lacked pace, excluding him from any wheel-to-wheel action at the front of the grid and setting the stage for one of the greatest podium battles we’ve seen in recent years.
A late safety car restart caused by Valtteri Bottas’ Alfa Romeo meant six cars were left battling for podium positions in the race’s final stages. Whilst Carlos Sainz’ Ferrari disappeared into the distance, Charles Leclerc was left to defend second from Sergio Perez’ Red Bull and Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes.
Leclerc and Perez went wheel-to-wheel entering the final chicane, with Perez cutting a corner and forcing Leclerc wide as they rounded the final corner. This allowed Hamilton to deliver a daring double overtake, with a Crofty classic and roaring British fans delivering the perfect soundtrack to the action.
