It has been confirmed that Liam Lawson will replace Daniel Ricciardo at RB for the remainder of the 2024 campaign.

Heading into the Singapore Grand Prix last weekend, there were multiple reports and speculation around whether this could be the last time we see Ricciardo in a Formula 1 race after it was reported that he could be loosing his seat.
In the interviews with the media after the race, Ricciardo appeared to be very emotional, saying that he’s proud of the career that he’s had, which seemed to confirm that the rumours around his imminent departure were true.
It has now been confirmed by RB and the drivers themselves that Ricciardo has lost his seat and will be replaced by Lawson for the rest of the season.

Can Lawson succeed at RB?
Lawson had a somewhat successful spell with the previously named AlphaTauri team last season.
Despite this only lasting for a short period of time whilst Ricciardo was recovering from a broken wrist that he sustained at Zandvoort, the New Zealander made an instant impact and scored two points across five grand prix’s.
However, this was still not good enough to get Lawson a full time seat in F1. With other rookies like Oliver Bearman and Franco Colapinto getting opportunities to race in the sport this season, many people questioned why Lawson wasn’t being looked at by teams in the same way.
After nearly a year on the side-lines, Lawson will finally have the chance to get behind the wheel of an F1 car again, but this time on a more permanent basis.
The question now is, can Lawson impress again in his second spell in F1? Or will his time at RB be a similar one to Ricciardo’s?
