W Series have announced a revision to it’s 2021 pre-season test schedule.
The all female, single seater championship was originally due to test at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain between 26th-30th April this year. But due to the ongoing global pandemic and the uncertain travel restrictions, We Series have announced that they will revise the testing schedule.
Testing will now be held at the Anglesey Circuit in Wales from 17th-21st May this year.
W Series will be supporting Formula One at 8 races this year, with the season beginning on 26th June in France. On the 3rd July, they head to Austria, then race at Silverstone on 17th July. On 31st July, they race at Hungary, then Spa on 28th August before heading to the Netherlands on 4th September. Over a month later they join F1 in Austin on 23rd October with the final race of the season in Mexico on 30th October.
The announcement was welcomed by Ross Brawn, Managing Director of Motorsport in Formula one, as the sport looks to increase diversity and inclusion in all aspects.
“We are delighted to announce the eight Formula 1 races that W Series will join in 2021. There is a really exciting mix of circuits that will showcase the exceptional talent of the drivers in the series. We believe that it is incredibly important to give everyone the chance to reach the highest levels of our sport, and partnering with W Series shows our determination and commitment to building greater diversity across Formula 1.”
