Championship leader Jamie Chadwick admitted she is ready for the Hungarian race and will try to keep her head down to recover from yesterday’s struggles.

W Series saw a brilliant qualifying session yesterday in Budapest. The three-way battle saw 2021 runner-up Alice Powell conquer her first pole position in 2022 while 2-times W Series champion Jamie Chadwick surprisingly only qualified fifth.
Ahead of today’s race, however, Chadwick told FormulaNerds she won’t take unnecessary risks, especially considering the changeable conditions: “I think it depends on weather conditions but we’ll see. No need to take big risks but I think I feel about our position so I wanna get my head down, try and get a good first few laps and see where we end up. “
Is rain incoming?
The W Series drivers, who were also able to discuss the upcoming race with 7-times F1 World Champion Sir Lewis Hamilton, will have to deal with heavy rain and tricky conditions on the track with the lights going out at 14:40 CEST.

Regarding the rain, Chadwick admitted the forecast doesn’t worry her excessively: “I’m confident generally in the wet, but I think that generally, it leads to some more disruption and so yeah, maybe more eventualities happen anyway so we’ll see, I think if it is wet or dry I hope we can get our head down and still have a good race. “
So far, Chadwick has dominated the W Series grid in 2022 winning every race of the season so far but whether she will be able to hold this record is yet to see, as it will depend on her ability to solve the question marks left by qualifying: “Based on yesterday no [keeping the trend of victories], but today I think it’s a new day. I don’t necessarily need to take the risk but I think we’ve got a good pace then I don’t see why not. “
